ALESSANDRA MARIA

Alessandra Maria was born and raised in Seattle in 1989. In 2012, she graduated from Pratt University, and is now working in Brooklyn, New York. Alessandra finds resonance with Dave Hickey’s theory that America is, at it’s heart, a pagan nation which builds up it’s own idols and in turn tears them down. Alessandra’s work attempts to go back to the historic start of iconography, remaking it from a feminist perspective.
