TROY BROOKS

Troy Brooks lives and works in Toronto, Canada. Brooks blends mannerism with pop surrealism to create his female characters. He has stated that he paints women because he relates to women much more than he does men.  He is inspired by the actresses of the silent movie era, the prostitutes of Van Dongen and Otto Dix paintings, and the women of Film Noir.  As a teenager, Brooks collected old photographs and drew the women in them before he began creating his own characters.
